Part of the Hesperia hotel chain, the Playas de Mallorca Hotel is located in the seafront of Santa Ponsa, right in front of the beach and only 100 metres to main nightlife and the nearest bars. Built in 1975 and completely renovated in 1999, the hotel consists of 212 rooms built across 4 floors, including 9 singles.

All rooms are equipped with air conditioning, fully equipped en suite bathroom, queen size bed, satellite TV, telephone, Internet connection (at an additional fee), safety deposit box and terrace or balcony, most of which have views either over the pool or the garden area. Rooms fit up to 3 people.

Hotel facilities include a 24 hour reception with currency exchange service, luggage rooms for late departures, medical and laundry services, lifts, garage and car park and access to the Santa Ponsa I Golf Club with a special fee.

The Hesperia Playas de Mallorca main restaurant serves buffet-style dishes and offers show cooking, and from July to September (both included) the terrace grill is open serving a la carte dishes.

Guest facilities also include a large outdoor swimming pool and a separate children's one with complimentary sun loungers and parasols, kids club and children's play area, mini-club and table tennis.

The hotel also runs a daytime entertainment program which includes aerobics and water polo, as well as nighttime entertainment with music and other activities.

The hotel was lovely, the staff were very polite & helpful.

My only complaint would be that as a woman on my first holiday alone, I requested a nice room with a view, however the room was directly over an area full of beer crates. Refusing this I was offered another that looked out onto a fire escape.

Apart from this, the location was fantastic, the food was excellent & well worth a visit.

Myself & Partner,went to this hotel 3 years ago beginning of June, food was fine, rooms were nice.

Children activities and evening entertainment could have been better, it was the best hotel for the beach, friends were staying in the Pionera Hotel, 2 minutes away where we went for evening entertainment which for kids and adults was great.

I tried to book for this year in September but was fully booked and have to go to Alcudia - I have been to every resort in Spain over the last 20 years and nowhere can beat Santa Ponsa for all age groups and there is no hotel there I would give a bad review to.

My mother and I stayed in this hotel on
1st may to 15th may 2009.

We thought that the food was excellent and there were plenty of choices, although the bacon and
sausages for breakfast were a bit on the
greasy side.

The rooms were basic but were cleaned everyday. The entertainment was very good although we were there at the start of the season. People were very friendly and helpful.

If you want to go on any trip I would suggest you go locally as it is cheaper than through the rep.

You have to cross main road to get to beach but we had no problems. supermarket and chemist just round corner, and plenty of shops and pubs if you want to go elsewhere at night. Taxi and bus rank 5 mins. away and very regular.

I will be going back in 2 years to same hotel but maybe June/July next time.
