Great hotel, bad food! I'd go again!

Do not touch this hotel.
We arrived in the early hours with two small children to be told they had no rooms by a night reception desk clerk, who was clearly used to this situation and could not have cared less.
Us and another family, who had a small baby, spent the first hour of our holiday arguing and only because of that we were transferred the next day to a better hotel. Here we met other people who had also shouted loudly and been transferred. They had met even more people who had been overbooked, before being transferred we looked around and the hotel was crap, with staff who were clearly worn down by customers moaning.
WORST HOTEL WE HAVE EVER BEEN TO. This was in conjunction with Ola holidays.
DO NOT BOTHER WITH THEM EITHER CHEAP BUT NOT CHEARFUL YOU WILL BE CRYING!

The best place i have ever been.

The hotel itself was very nice but at the beginning of our holiday (4th July) it was quite quiet which was good but towards the end (we stayed for 10 days) it was packed full to the brim. Everyone was on top of each other. We met a family of 4 whilst here and they had the same size room as us (a twin room) with two extra beds put in so there was no room whatsoever.
The food was rubbish as there was limited choice, there was not much that would go together. It was repetitive. The pizza in the pizzeria was like cardboard and the rice wasn't cooked properly, it was still hard.
The kids entertainment was good and the bingo was fun =] but the adult entertainment was boring. Most evenings me and my mum got cards out and played cards.
We did have a lovely view from our balcony though, a view of the two beaches and the pool.
If you don't have small children then i wouldn't recommend this hotel. It is good for children but I have been to better.

I absolutely love this hotel.
I've been twice with my family and we all LOVED it, yeah it might of been a long journey from the airport to the hotel but who cares once you get there its amazing.
Checking in was fast and the food was outstanding every day. I don't have a bad word to say about this hotel I'd defo go back it was great.
It was highly suited to all of our family, and all of the staff are friendly and make you feel welcome.
I would 100% advise anyone to go here its just the best hotel ive ever been to!!!!!

Hotel America is fab... great staff, immaculately clean, spacious room, good food and plenty of it. 2 mins from the beautiful beach.
Totally relaxed atmosphere in the hotel. Nice little town to wander around, totally breathtaking views, paradise on a cliff.
Go it's a great place. Can't believe its only a 3 star.

I had the pleasure of staying in Hotel America. (20 aug 30 aug)
Myself and 5 friends, we also had 3 kid's with us.
The hotel was great. Food in my and my friend's opinion was excellent. The hotel staff where excellent. Even when I misplaced my key every other day.
Only one problem was you had to be up early to get sunbeds. The people who look after the pool area should get the broken one's fixed that was my only problem.
Had a great holiday and would go back tomorrow.

I thought that the hotel was lovely clean nice, staff were nice but the entertainment was not that good for older kids.
The beach was only a few steps away, they had a few good shops only a 2 min walk and they also had a good internet caffee.

Another case of double booking by the hotel.
We got there only to be told that we had no room, just what you want at 5am after traveling from 7pm the evening before. They said we were booked into a nearby hotel for the night and when we arrived it was a grotty studio appartment that smelt like wee. The toilet door would not shut, the bed had hair in it (not ours). We slept on top of the bed as it was too bad to get into. We basically lost a day due to this but nobody cared.
Would not go back!

Just back at the end of June 2008. We originally booked as a family of three on the back of some great reviews of this hotel and having spent ten nights there we will not be back.
The food six out of the ten nights was barely edible, you were making a meal up from various dishes to satisfy your hunger. Lets put it this way you would not make a dinner like back home (ie veal stew with salad and potato balls in bread crumbs). The soup was always good and the desserts and salads, the fried eggs in the morning were not cooked properly runny white, you had to queue for almost everything and having 70% of the hotel being occupied by ignorant Czechs, poles, Germans and Spanish people with no manners made it all the harder.
If you wanted a parasol you had to be up at 6am or people would have towels tied to them ,loungers chained until 9-9.30am, queue for those as well. Be aware of the dress code for evening meals, no shorter than 3/4 length trousers, no beer or coke in dinning area, a la carte restaurant closed two tears ago pizzas only knew how to make three that I seen plus left overs from evening meals. Beer was watered down if you have a pint in the town where we went every day. You can tell the difference straight away.
Adult entertainment dire, kids was good, resort itself very nice with beautiful beach.
Josephine Magee from Downpatrick Northern Ireland, June 30, 2008 10:52 AM
We arrived to book in on 20th June 2008 for a 5 night stay with sea views and were turned away. We were very disappointed as we were looking forward to our sea views.
We were told there were no rooms and were given another hotel which was Club Cali Romani which turned out to be great.
I would recommend Club Cali Romani if anyone else is turned away and you can still walk to the beach.

Me and my family went to Hotel America for a week. We couldn't asked for anything better.
The staff were friendly and the food excellent. The hotel is next to shops that have everything you could need or want.
The view from our balcony was beautiful: it overlooked the beach and further coasts. The hotel was just steps away from the beach.
The children entertainment was excellent and the staff really enjoyed playing activities with the children. There is a mini disco for the children in the evenings which is enjoyed by adults as well!
We are already trying to book for next year as all members of my family loved it, young and old!

We are returning to the Hotel America this year for the fourth year in succession.
This hotel is fantastic for family holidays, with a friendly atmosphere and an idyllic position. All rooms offer a sea view, and the facilities are top notch.
The actual resort is delightful, with a range of shops and small bars and cafes, and enough entertainment to keep the kids happy.
We would strongly recommend this holiday!!

This is the best holiday I have had in years.
The hotel is fantastic, right on the beach and the views from the room was superb. The hotel is well placed within Calas de Mallorca and is only 2 minutes walk into the centre, where you can get everything you need (chemist, supermarket etc.,) There is a train which goes all around the area, great idea for a cloudy day. The hotel itself is well furnish and cleaned thoroughly daily. There is plenty to offer in the way of food and even enough for myself (I'm a veggie).
The staff are super friendly, nothing is ever too much trouble for them. The best thing we enjoyed as a family was the evening entertainment. Mostly it was run by Eric, who is amazingly funny Cuban, just to listen to the bingo on a night was laugh! Great hotel too if you like to holiday with other nationalities, there were French, Polish, Spanish (on holiday), Slovakians, Italians, Czechs, and the occasional Germans! The beach at Callas de Mallorca is stunning, beautiful clear water and a gently sloping beach, makes this beach safe for even the smallest child. My two loved jumping the waves.
We will be returning the Hotel America again, maybe not next year, but soon!
